Get to Know Dr. Ben Donnelli
We’re excited to have Dr. Ben here at Dentistry By Canyon Creek; his passion for building long-lasting relationships truly makes a difference in helping every patient have a positive experience during every appointment. He and Dr. Kyle have also been close friends since 2006, and they look forward to practicing together for many years to come here at our Richardson office. Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Ben’s high school motto was “Men for Others,” and he strives to live by this motto every single day. During his senior year, he was asked a question about weekly community service that changed his life. The question was “What is the difference between ‘doing service’ and ‘being of service?’” Needless to say, “being of service” has become a way of life for him!
Once Dr. Ben knew he wanted a career that wouldn’t just challenge him intellectually and creatively, but also provide him with opportunities to serve others, dentistry became the clear choice. It’s a job that allows him to be hands-on, demands his best each day, and delivers tangible, life-changing results that truly change lives and help people feel their best.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
A Richardson native, Dr. Ben attended Jesuit College Preparatory for high school before he went on to study biology at the University of Oklahoma. He also joined the Alumni Service Corps (ASC) shortly after college graduation, a service program through Jesuit in which you devote a year of your life to service. He taught freshman biology while also working in the campus ministry and community service offices.
From there, he went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Baylor College of Dentistry. After receiving his dental degree, Dr. Ben attended the California Implant Institute Live Patient Surgical Externship, and he has been awarded his Fellowship through the International Council of Oral Implantologists!
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
In his free time, Dr. Ben enjoys staying active by playing basketball, sand volleyball, ping pong, golfing, skiing, and surfing. He also regularly hangs out with his family and plays around with his five nieces and nephews – being an uncle is the best! Dr. Ben’s parents have also been married for nearly 40 years, and they’ve been an amazing example of how to raise a family and love others. He also has three sisters, two older, one younger.
Dr. Ben is also very passionate about his faith and tying it into his dental work – he believes it is a unique skill that one can use to show the love of Jesus through others while also removing someone’s pain and giving them the confidence to smile brighter.
